Advanced Structures and Composites Center and DeepCwind Consortium host Developer’s Reception at North American Offshore Wind Conference for industry leaders
ORONO, Maine – September 16, 2010 –Dr. Habib J. Dagher, Principal Investigator for the DeepCwind Consortium and Director of AEWC Advanced Structures and Composites Center at the University of Maine, will host two receptions at the Sheraton Atlantic City Convention Center for industry leaders interested in deepwater floating offshore wind opportunities in the Gulf of Maine on October 5 and 6. The receptions coincide with the North American Offshore Wind Conference.
On October 5, a private dinner and presentation will focus on the Maine Public Utilities Commission’s (MPUC) Request for Proposals (RFP) to establish a 25 MW floating wind farm in the Gulf of Maine.
On October 6 a general reception will address the DeepCwind National Research Program, the construction of the Offshore Wind Laboratory at the Advanced Structures and Composites Center, and the MPUC RFP.

The DeepCwind Consortium's mission is to establish the State of Maine as a national leader in deepwater offshore wind technology through a research initiative funded by the U.S. Department of Energy.
AEWC Advanced Structures and Composites Center is a state-of-the-art one-stop-shop for integrated composite materials and structural component development. Located at the University of Maine, it offers in-house capabilities for developing a composite product or structure from the conceptual stage through research, manufacturing of prototypes, comprehensive testing and evaluation, code approval and commercialization. In the past year it has been awarded nearly $40 million in funding to pursue research in deepwater offshore wind energy technology. Advanced Structures and Composites Center Director Dr. Habib Dagher, P.E. is the DeepCwind Consortium principal investigator.
